Grant Gulczynski

BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1991, Grant is a British filmmaker based in London.


Between 2013-2016 he split his time between London and Sarajevo, undertaking his PhD in Liberal Arts Filmmaking, under the mentorship of Hungarian director Béla Tarr. These studies lead to the creation of his documentary feature debut, as a producer and co-director, Lost in Bosnia, which screened internationally at festival such as CPH:DOX and Hong Kong International Film Festival. His thesis film five mermaids in the balkans, an exploration of homosexuality in the former Yugoslavia via gay dating apps, went on to screen internationally at Molodist Film Festival and Morelia among others.


Presently Grant is in development with his narrative feature debut, whilst his latest short BATOR continues its life on the festival circuit, most recently at the London Short Film Festival. Outside of filmmaking Grant is the Head of Festival for the Fringe! Queer Film and Arts Fest. He has been a recipient of the Leverhulme Trust’s Scholarship, as well as being selected for Berlin Talent Campus and NISI MASA.
